Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Questions about counseling services, the online store, and much more!

  1. What is therapy and how can it help me?

    • Therapy, also called psychotherapy or counseling, is the process of meeting with a therapist/counselor to resolve problematic behaviors, beliefs, feelings, relationship issues, and/or somatic responses (sensations in the body). Though no one can tell you exactly what your therapy process will be like, in all modes of therapy you will establish goals for yourself and determine the steps you will take to get there. Therapy can help you live a more fulfilling, peaceful, and happy life.

    • If we don’t feel “sick” or “broken,” we might not think we would benefit from therapy, but you’re not broken and therapy isn’t about curing or fixing you, it’s about finding self-awareness, developing coping mechanisms to help you through life’s ups and down, and providing support to help you develop strength and resilience.

  2. What type of therapies are offered?

    • Day specializes in trauma based therapy however, she uses modalities that include positive therapy, solution-focused, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, Creative Arts Therapy, Play Therapy, ETC.

    • Individual and Family sessions are available

  3. How long are each session?

    • Each session is catered to the needs of the client and are typically an hour long, once a week. The length of the therapy depends on each individualized plan of care.

  4. Who pays for my sessions?

    • Day, accepts a variety of insurances and has a self pay option. Insurances include Medicaid, Cigna, Aetna, United Healthcare, Oscar, Oxford, and Blue Cross Blue Shield. This list is growing each day so it is advised you send Day an email with your current insurance and her or her team will be able to better assist you with this matter. You can also pay out of pocket for each session if you do not have insurance. Self-pay fee is $100 per session.

  5. What if I cannot make it to a session?

    • There is a cancellation policy where you have at least 24 hours prior to your schedule appointment to cancel or reschedule. If you do not do so within 24 hours you will be charged a $75 fee. If you "No-Show" to a scheduled session you will be given a one time "pass" as Day is aware that mistakes can happen. However if you "No-Show" to two sessions, you WILL be charged the $75 Fee.

  6. How can I tell if a therapist is a good match for me?

    • Therapy is a voluntary service unless it is a court ordered by a Judge. You are not obligated to see a therapist if you feel like they are not: listening to your wants/needs, judging you, are being biased, does not respect your cultural or ethnic background, or you are simply not "vibing" with them. Please keep in mind that all therapist, although have extensive training and educational background, have different ways of providing the services they offer. Be open and honest with your therapist and let them know if you do not feel like they are a good fit. Most therapist have a referring system in which could help assisting in finding the best fit for you.
